West Covina Suspect arrested when he returned to the crime scene
Earlier this week a West Covina man was arrested after he returned to the crime scene looking for his knife that he used in the stabbing. According to police, the man was connected to a morning stabbing on the 1100 block of East Wingate Ave. After some investigation, the detectives on the case discovered that Manuel Alexander Valdez, the man accused of stabbing the victim, knew the victim and they both had been arguing before the incident. Valdez stabbed the victim in the arm and fled the scene before the police arrived. Witnesses told police that they saw a man hiding in the bushes around the area. Investigators believed it was Valdez returning to recover the assault weapon and he was arrested. The victim suffered a cut to the arm and a severed artery, which put him in critical condition at the hospital.
