Covina Police Plan Pedestrian Safety Crackdown
Covina Police plan to step up enforcement by improving pedestrian and bicycle safety throughout Covina on Friday, according to officials. During this campaign of extra enforcement, Covina Police will keep watch for violations by motorists, bicyclists and pedestrians that can lead to serious accidents. There will be special attention and focus toward drivers speeding, making illegal turns, failing to stop for stop signs and signals, failing to yield to pedestrians in crosswalks or any other dangerous violation. Covina Police will also be on the lookout for pedestrian and bicyclist violations. The extra enforcement will be targeted at parts of the city where pedestrian and bicyclists have been involved in collisions in recent years, as well as places with high pedestrian and bicycle traffic according to officials in charge of the safety effort. The way the police were able to fund for this campaign is being provided by a grant from the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, through the California Office of Traffic Safety. If you would like to get involved with this effort please visit the Covina Police website for more information.
