Man Struck and Killed by SUV in Arcadia
Wednesday evening, a little after 5 p.m., a West Covina elderly man was struck by an SUV while crossing Santa Anita Avenue, according to West Covina Police. The man was described as an 83 year-old Hispanic male and he was declared dead at the scene of the accident. The accident occurred on the corner of Santa Anita and La Sierra Drive according to the Arcadia Police that showed up at the scene first. The driver of the SUV stopped at the corner of the street immediately after she struck the man at the intersection. The driver of the vehicle was identified as a 36 year-old woman from Monterey Park and cooperated with investigators at the scene according to the police. The paramedics tried to save the man at the scene, but, unfortunately, he was pronounced dead at the scene of the crime. According to investigators, there is no marked crosswalk at that intersection and is guided by stop signs or stop lights. The investigation is ongoing by the Major Accident Investigation Team.
